"You don't need to A/B test your way into my heart. You're already statistically significant." - @thatbberg
.
But really though. Marketing puns aside, I love you @madstherads. You encourage me to strive to be my best self every day and you continually surprise me with your kind heart and gentle soul. Thanks for being my forever valentine πŸ’›

Wow, Rocky Mountains, you're stunning.
.
You may remember that I was in a really bad 40+ car pileup last March during a snowstorm. I've been really scared to drive in snow since then, even to the point that I didn't leave the house for four days during the polar vortex last week.
.
@madstherads has been encouraging me to 'get back on the horse' and drive again, because if I don't now, I never will. (He's not wrong...I've debated giving up driving for good.) So when I came to Denver this weekend, I decided to rent a car and drive to Boulder / Thornton and check out the Google offices.
.
Minus a couple mini panic attacks, the drive(s) went really well and I was rewarded with these views! Swipe to enjoy - except for the first photo (b+w of course) there are NO filters, because they just weren't necessary.
.
🚧⚠️🚧⚠️🚧⚠️
Please note: all these photos were taken from "scenic pullouts" or while *stopped* on the road due to very minimal traffic. DO NOT take pictures while you're driving, it can wait. This has been your friendly driving safety PSA.

On @thespitfiregirl's recommendation, I checked out the @dior exhibit at the @denverartmuseum today. It was really good!
.
Before my nomad / minimalism / no-buy adventures, I was an avid collector of designer goods. I owned the prettiest blood red @maisonvalentino bag, a cerulean @hermes wallet that I bought in Germany, and a number of other beautiful things. But they were just that - beautiful things. Because I was so scared to damage them, I rarely ever used them, and I'm not a big believer in buying things you can't use.
.
I ended up selling most of my designer goods collection (all I have left today is that Hermes wallet) and I'm better off for it, but wandering through the Dior collection and seeing gowns worn by Grace Kelly, Marilyn Monroe, Elizabeth Taylor, and so many others was a real treat! Great recommendation, Heidi! πŸ’›

Five years ago today was my last day at McDonald's. I don't talk a ton about my time at McD's but I figured today would be a good day to share a bit! This photo is actually from one of my first few days on the job.
.
I started when I was a minor at the McDonald's down the road from my high school - not old enough to work the grill, or to close the store. When I graduated high school, I left for Albion and got a new job at the McDonald's there.
.
Soon after starting in Albion, I was promoted to crew trainer, and then six months later they sent me to manager school. I was the youngest manager ever at my McDonald's.
.
I worked every shift and every station at that McDonald's, even as a manager. Because of school, my most common shift was the overnight one - an adventure in a college town. In my time as a McDonald's employee I learned a lot, but most of all how to treat people. I remember customers yelling at me for someone messing up their order and telling me how stupid I was, all the while I was *at* that McDonald's to pay for my education. It was a humbling experience.
.
Some foods that have come and gone since I worked there: McFish bites, popcorn chicken, the big chicken wraps, Mushroom and Swiss Angus burger, chocolate chip frappes, blueberry oatmeal, Reese's McFlurry.
.
When I started these weren't a thing: egg white sandwiches, smokehouse burgers, chicken tenders (they were called chicken strips and then were gone for awhile), cheesy bacon fries, go-gurt as a side option, McCafe (launched about 6 months after I started).
.
Five years later, I still use some of the skills I learned at McDonald's, especially innovation. If you heard me speak at the @risingtidesociety leaders' retreat in 2017, you heard me tell the pickle juice story - running out of grill cleaner and using pickle juice instead. That lesson is one I still use dang near every day.
